Day 04 : Alleppey
- Thekkady (160 km-4 hrs)
After a sumptuous
breakfast checkout of the Houseboat
at Alleppey. Proceed to Thekkady to
have a wonderful night in the famous
wildlife sanctuary. Afternoon move
for an enchanting boating in the lake
Periyar to watch the wildlife from
close quarters. Overnight stay at
Thekkady.
Day 05 : Thekkady
Today your schedule includes plantation
visit and trekking in the Jungle also
available (Optional). Evening go for
a spice shopping at the local market.Overnight
at hotel.
Day 06 : Thekkady
- Madurai. (180 km-5 hrs)
Proceed to Madurai the Temple city
of South India. The ancient city of
Madurai, some 2600 years old is laid
out in the banks of river Vaigai as
a lotus flower with the Meenakshi
temple in the centre. After lunch
go for a city tour visiting - Meenakshi
temple, King Tirumala's Palace, Great
Tank and Gandhi Museum. Dinner and
overnight at hotel.
Day 07 : Madurai
-Tanjore (180 km-5 hrs)
After breakfast proceed to Thanjavur
(Tanjore). Tanjore once the capital
of Chola Kings, has the Brahadeswara
temple(or the big temple of God).The
temple tower rises to a height of
15mts from a square base of 29 mts
and then tapers off, making a total
of 66mts.Later back to Madurai for
your overnight stay.
Day 08 : Madurai
- Excursion to Rameshwaram -Madurai
(360kms - 10 hrs)
After breakfast
proceed to Rameshwaram ( 180Km - 5Hrs)
- the most sacred temple town of India
is an island hallowed by the epic
Ramayana, where Lord Rama is said
to have visited before going into
battle of Srilanka. Legend has it
that Lord Rama sent Hanuman to Mount
Kailash to bring a Lingam for worship
when he set foot after defeating Ravana.
As Hanuman did not return when the
auspicious hour was approaching, Sita
made a sand Lingam so that worship
could be performed in time, which
is where the present day Ramanatha
Swamy Temple stands close to sea on
the eastern side of the island. One
of the twelve Jyotirlingam shrines
is also well known for its magnificent
corridors and the massive sculptured
pillars lining them. Lunch at local
restaurant. Return to Madurai for
dinner. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 09 : Madurai
- Kanyakumari (260 km-6.5 hrs)
After breakfast proceed for Kanyakumari
- the land's end of India where the
water of the Arabian Sea, the Bay
of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meet.
An important pilgrim centre of India,
it is famous for the Amman Temples
- a symbol of unity and sanctity -
dedicated to the virgin Goddess, Kanya
Kumari. To its South - East lies the
famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial ,
a blend of all the architectural styles
of India. Evening enjoy the beautiful
sun set. Overnight at hotel in Kanyakumari.
Day 10 : Kanyakumari
- Kovalam (90 km-3hrs)
After watching sunrise at Kanyakumari
proceed to Trivandrum/ Kovalam. Optional:
enroute local sightseeing of Trivandrum
which includes Museum complex, Padmanabha
Swamy Temple, Science & Technology
museum, Veli Tourist village, Aakulam
boat club, Shangmugham Beach. Later
proceed to Kovalam Beach. Overnight
at Kovalam Beach hotel.
Day 11 : Kovalam
Full day at leisure at beach. (Optional:
Go for a Ayurvedic message). Overnight
at Kovalam Beach hotel.
Day 12 : Departure
Trivandrum (30 Km-1 hr)
Depart as per schedule to Trivandrum
Railway Station/Airport for your onward
journey.
